Risky Take: Ensuring the middle class stays middle class

A common political strategy to ensure re-election is to ensure that the middle class, stays middle class. But how can a government create a situation that generates larger re-election probability while ensuring the middle class remains in the middle, or drops even lower.

This strategy requires the right situations to be taking place, such as a global pandemic, or a war in another country. Once roots have taken hold and the people become dependent upon the government for survival this task becomes rudimentary. As you can see, building dependance on the government is the allure of a government that wants you to become dependent upon it. When you mix in a flavor of survival and the need then the government can do things like, create new taxes, bolstering its bottom line while not actually providing anything back to the people. This is an appearance building exercise, it is futile to argue against the new taxes because then you are arguing against survival.
